Dear Friends,

With the anniversary of 9/11 last week, I remember meeting a few people that became homeless during the months and years that followed. One was a man whose whole life had been changed. This man had been a waiter all his life — he liked it, was good at it, worked in fancy restaurants and made a good living doing this kind of work. He was working at a fancy restaurant when 9/11 hit. There was no business at the restaurant for several months after that and the owner lost his lease.

Our friend had been out of work since, only working here and there to make ends meet. He used up all his savings. He did not do drugs, he was not an alcoholic and did not have a mental health problem. He was just a person caught up in a circumstance out of his control and he became homeless. Jobs were difficult to find but he kept trying. We talked with him, helped him with transportation, food, toiletries, and prayed for him.

We meet people every day who, in the blink of an eye, become homeless. A circumstance like losing a job, an accident, or illness. It takes only a couple of months for most people to get behind in their bills and have a chance to lose their home.

The Lord says we must lift up those who have fallen. As Christians that is our responsibility. Thank you for your support to His Walk because you have really been lifting up the fallen and broken, those who have lost hope and need the love of God to reach them where they are.

A special thank you to all the Dine with Jesus volunteers from FUMC of Coral Springs. Right now, there are only a couple of groups serving meals to the homeless, singles and families. In our area, feeding places have been shut down. Keep praying for our homeless friends, they are God’s children. Pray that God will move, in His time to bring our friends not only the physical but spiritual things they need. Keep praying and keep the faith, until He returns!!

In Christ,
Sandy Cloutier

We all Need Encouragement

My granddaughter wrote this to encourage people that are struggling that God is with them and we need to take those struggles to God in prayer. Thank you, Chloe Cloutier:

Something we all need to do today — not depend on our own strength. We are all humans. We make mistakes daily, and we are sinners. Instead of asking or wondering “How can I make a situation better,” the best thing we can do is pray about it. Here are encouraging words from scripture:

“My heart rejoices in the Lord…for I delight in your deliverance”
1 Samuel 2:1 (NIV)

“There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God”
1 Samuel 2:2 (NIV)

“It is not by strength that one prevails…He will give strength…”
1 Samuel 2:9-10 (NIV)
